FLIGHT SIMULATOR

This activity is suitable for the complete novice, as well as for those who have a flying background.  Do Touch and Go circuits, fly solo without the risk of crashing - well, at least without hurting yourself or the plane.  The graphics and sound effects are as real as it gets without actually flying.

What do I need?  How much do I need to know?  Just come along and enjoy the experience. The instructor will use the overhead projector to show you what to do and then it is ‘hands-on’ using a joystick, just like a real plane.  Learn at your own pace.  Come for just one session, or go on to more advanced sessions - your choice.

Flight simulation covers a wide range of flight profiles from the common Cessna to the advanced Jet Airliner, or even the very fast Jet Fighter; from a small hop from one airfield to another nearby; from an international airport in one country to another airport in another country.

Flight Simulator is a training tool to assist in training actual pilots and can offer the student an experience as close to the real thing as is virtually possible.

Flight Simulator workshops are designed to firstly familiarise one with the layout of an aircraft cabin and the primary flying instruments to give an appreciation of the work that goes into getting safely airborne.  Then a simple take-off is attempted to a satisfactory altitude to practice straight and level flight.  Students may select favourite airfields in New Zealand or overseas to operate from and to view cities and landscapes of their choice. Nearly every registered airfield in the world is available with the real radio frequencies.  The Cessna is used to begin, followed by the more advanced aircraft including the Jumbo Jets.

Further workshops may progress to more ambitious flights with weather changes and Air Traffic control communications as participants wish.  Settings can be altered to increase the density of air traffic and to order the level of difficulty, and many other choices.  However you can just come along for one session, or more, as you choose.

The modern Flight Simulator is a very powerful program intriguing the newcomer and partially satisfying the experienced pilot – especially the retired ones. Anyone who enjoys flying, or thinks they might, will enjoy this program without the accompanying dangers and safety hazards ,except perhaps missing a meal because you become too engrossed.
