The Training Disk

Several times a year we provide students with a Training Disk CD-R which contains files needed for the various courses. 

The CD also has a number of software programmes which we have found to be safe and useful, and as some of them are of considerable size we save you the time and trouble of downloading them from the Internet.   Many are entirely free, and some are trial versions which you can use for a limited period before you have to pay for them. 

As these programmes are replaced by newer versions we continue to update them, about twice a year.  So if you have problems installing software from the CD then it may simply be that the particular version on the CD is no longer current.  Usually you will be directed to the website and invited to download the latest copy.

The latest version of the Training Disk is 'Version 6.2 Winter 2008 ' which is pictured here. The difference from previous versions is the addition of resource files for the new Word 2007 and Introduction to Vista manuals, and a revision of the PowerPoint files.

Click on the folder Your Software to install.  Inside this folder is a word document which will tell you about the programmes.  To find the programmes click on the folder named Open this to find the programmes.  Click on Free Programmes first.  Inside is a list of programmes you can install on your computer.  Each folder has inside the installation file which will guide you through the installation process.  Click on the file to start the process.  We recommend you save the file to a CD in case you ever need to reinstall the programme. 

The Trial Programmes folder contains trials for programmes for which you will need your credit card.
